Hello,
Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions regarding archery in Gyldenholt.
Is loaner gear available?
The barony does have a small amount of loaner equipment that will be brought to practice only if it is requested ahead of time. If you need to use the loaner gear at practice be sure to contact the Captain of the Archers.
Do I have to be authorized to shoot?
No. In fact, all levels of experience are encouraged to come out and give archery a try. Authorization is a two-part process. If you are interested in getting authorized, talk to the Captain of the Archers.
How old do I have to be to shoot?
Archers have to be able to follow directions, and be responsible with the bow--otherwise just about anyone can shoot. Archers under the age of 18 must have a legal guardian present. If you have a child under the age of 14 who is interested in shooting, please contact The Captain of Archers for more information.
Where I can find out more about Caidan archery? The Kingdom Archery Handbook has a TON of information on kingdom archery, including field guidelines, participation guidelines, awards, et cetera. You can view the handbook online at http://archers.sca-caid.org/archers_handbook.html
How can I find out/double check if practice is happening this week?
Practice reminders and cancellation notices are sent to the Baronial mailing List. You can also email the Captain of the Archers before the day of practice to double check.
Should I RSVP?
Please, please, please RSVP if you are attending practice. That way if an emergency happens, the Captain will have your contact information and can let you know. Also, if no one RSVPs, practice may be cancelled on the fly.
Have another question?
Contact the Captain of Archers directly. Thank you.
